Introduction

India is a land of festivals. Every state celebrates its own unique festivals with joy, colour, and enthusiasm. Among all the festivals I have seen and experienced, Bihu is the festival I like the most. It is the most beloved and important festival of Assam. Bihu truly reflects the rich culture, heritage, and the warm spirit of the Assamese people.

Types of Bihu

Bihu is celebrated three times a year, each with its own significance:

  • Rongali Bihu (April) — Celebrates the Assamese New Year and the arrival of spring. It is the most joyful of the three.
  • Kongali Bihu (October) — A quiet and sober festival observed with lamps and prayers.
  • Bhogali Bihu (January) — A harvest festival celebrated with feasting and bonfires called Meji.

How Bihu is Celebrated

During Bihu, people wear new traditional clothes and visit their relatives and friends. Women prepare delicious traditional food items like pitha, laru, and jolpan. The famous Bihu dance is performed by young boys and girls dressed in colourful traditional attire. The beats of dhol, the melody of pepa, and the rhythm of gogona fill every corner with festive joy. Bihu songs called Bihugeet are sung with great enthusiasm across villages and cities.

सप्रेम नमस्कार।

 

         आशा करता हूँ कि तुम कुशलपूर्वक होगे। मुझे यह बताते हुए बहुत खुशी हो रही है कि हमारे विद्यालय में आयोजित स्कूल-सप्ताह के अवसर पर मैंने खेल-कूद प्रतियोगिता में तीन पुरस्कार प्राप्त किए हैं।

      मैंने 100 मीटर दौड़ में प्रथम स्थान, लंबी कूद में द्वितीय स्थान और खो-खो टीम में उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन के लिए तृतीय पुरस्कार प्राप्त किया है। यह मेरे लिए बहुत गर्व की बात है। प्रधानाचार्य जी ने मेरी प्रशंसा की और सभी शिक्षकों ने भी बधाई दी।

मैं चाहता हूँ कि तुम जब समय मिले तो मेरे पुरस्कार देखने के लिए हमारे घर आओ। तुम्हारे आने की प्रतीक्षा रहेगी।
