List of National Parks in Assam 2024
1. Kaziranga National Park –
- Area – 858.98 km2
- Location – Golaghat , Nogaon and Sonitpur District.
- Animals Found – One Horned Rhinoceros, elephant, Leopard, wild bear,wild Asiatic water buffalo and eastern swamp deer . Significant populations of large herbivores include gaur and sambar , Small herbivores include the Indian muntjac, wild boar.
- In 10 November,1916 it was declared as Game Sanctuary.
- On 11 February,1974 it was declared as National Park.
- Kajiranga was declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.
- On 3 August,2007 Kajiranga comes under Tiger Project.
2. Manas National Park –
- Area – 500 K.M Square
- Location – Chirang and Baksha District.
- Animals – The park is known for its rare and endangered endemic wildlife such as the Assam roofed turtle, hispid hare, golden langur and pygmy hog.
- In 1922 it was declared as a wildlife Sanctuary.
- In 1973 it come under TIGER PROJECT.
- In 1985 it was declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

3. Nameri National Park –
- Area – 200 km2
- Location – Sonitpur District.
- Animals – Nameri National Park provides habitat for Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, clouded leopard, marbled cat, leopard cat, hog deer, sambar, dhole, gaur, barking deer, wild boar, sloth bear, Himalayan black bear, capped langur and Indian giant squirrel. The white winged wood duck, great pied hornbill.
- On 18 September,1985 it was set up as a Sanctuary.
- On 15 November 1998 it was converted into a National Park.
- Nameri National Park was declared as Tiger Reserve in the year 1999-2000, and is the second Tiger reserve of Assam after Manas Tiger Reserve.
4. Dibru – Soikhowa National Park –
- Area – 350 km2
- Location – Dibrugarh and Tinsukia District.
- Animal – Feral horses, the rare white-winged wood duck (Deo hanh), the park is also home to other rare creatures such as water buffalo, black-breasted parrotbill, tiger and capped langur.
- In 1995 it was declared as Wildlife Sanctuary.
- On 9 March, 1999 it was declared as National Park.
5. Orang National Park –
- Area – 78.81km2
- Location – Udalguri and Sonitpur District.
- Animals – Indian rhinoceros, pygmy hog, Asian elephant, wild water buffalo and Bengal tiger.
- In 1985 it was declared as Wildlife Sanctuary.
- On 13 April, 1999 it was declared as National Park.

6. Raimona National Park –
- Area – 422 km2
- Location – Gossaigaon and Kokrajhar District.
- Animals – primates, slow loris, Assamese macaque, Rhesus monkey and capped langur. includes Chinese pangolin, dhole or Asian wild dog, Himalayan black bear, crab-eating mongoose, jungle cat, leopard cat, Asian golden cat, Bengal tiger, leopard, clouded leopard, Asian elephant, gaur, Himalayan serow, sambar, chital, hog deer, barking deer, crestless Himalayan porcupine and hispid hare. - It was declared a National Park on 5 June 2021.
7. Dehing Patkai National Park –
- Area – 231.65 km2
- Location – Dibrugarh and Tinisukia
- Animals – The species are slow loris, Assamese macaque, stump-tailed macaque, pig-tailed macaque, Rhesus monkey, capped langur and hoolock gibbon.
- Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary was declared as Dehing Patkai Elephant Reserve under Project Elephant.
- It was declared a wildlife sanctuary on 13 June 2004.
- On 9 June 2021 it was declared as National Park.
