He thereby wanted to please the Goddess for the early recovery of his mother. He, therefore, requested Ram Das, his brotherin-law to bring a male goat. But Ram Das was unwilling to do so. He was a devotee of Srimanta Shankardev.

Ram Das, one day arranged a meeting of Madhab with Srimanta Shankardev. A religious debate took place between the two. Finally young Madhab realized that animal sacrifice is not necessary to please gods and goddesses. He, thereafter, became a devotee of Srimanta Shankardev and of his religious faith. This meeting between young Madhab and Saint Shankardev took place in a village of Majuli named Dhuwahata Belguri in 1515 AD . The meeting was a historic one.
